Finding a Lender

The Office of Financial Aid at Rice University does not award non-need based loans in the initial award package. If the student was not eligible for need-based aid, there are other loan options available to help meet educational expenses. If the student is interested in requesting a Stafford Loan, please e-mail fina@rice.edu with the requested amount.

The Office of Financial Aid provides a list of lenders that we have researched through an electronic RFI (Request for Information) process. We utilized a blind survey through List Assist as the determination method for our list. It is your responsibility to choose the lender that is right for you. Below is a list of lenders who work closely with Rice University.

IMPORTANT: If you do not see the lender that you wish to use, please contact the lender to obtain its lender code since it will be needed to complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN). Until the lender has a signed copy of the MPN, the loan funds will not be released to Rice University. **Students should contact their lender of choice to confirm that the application is complete and that the loan was approved. The lender will be able to disclose the expected disbursement release date. Disbursements of funds are generally credited to the student’s account within two business days. **
