Rice’s study abroad programs offer some of the most exciting and academically enriching opportunities available to you as an undergraduate. Knowing that international experience is a vital component of undergraduate life, Rice University encourages study—both on campus and abroad—that enhances your understanding of the world’s people, economies, environments and interdependencies.
Financing your study abroad experience is an important component in the planning process. In comparing programs, take care to note the cost of the program as well as any expenses that are not included. You may discover programs that are less expensive than attending Rice, and conversely you may discover programs that are more expensive than Rice. Prices are influenced by the type of program, location, duration, cost of living, local economies, excursions and more.
Rice is committed to assisting students participating in an international education experience. As a full-time study abroad student participating in a Rice-approved semester or full year study abroad program through the Rice Study Abroad Office, you are eligible to utilize your financial aid (loans, grants, scholarships) to pay for the program. For summer programs, Rice financial aid is not able to be utilized, but there are opportunities for federal or private loans.
Rice University and the study abroad office also offer scholarship opportunities for all terms—semester, full academic and summer.
